The subject of this website is to show to best take advantage of new media technology such as RSS feeds, podcasts, vidcasts, blogs and wikis as business tools.
The key phrase here is "as business tools". I see an awful lot of virtual ink being spilt about how to build up your business using podcasts, and blogs. But the focus always seems to be about how to use this technology to start a new business or to create a new revenue stream. I leave that subject for other's to write about. The attached blog is devoted to helping existing businesses use these new tools and techniques to extend and improve existing lines of communication.
Nor are we just talking about improving communication to customers. Seems to me there is too much emphasis placed upon how to monetize this technology. But money is also made by making the business run more efficiently. Any business manager can tell you just how important it is to keep employees and partners happy and well informed. So why shouldn't these tools be used to reach out to them as well?
In the next few months I plan to review some new technology, provide a few best case examples of how businesses are using new technology to improve external and internal communications and a philosophical discussions such how to establish a company-wide new media policy that encourages the blossoming of podcasting and blogging within your company and the increasing importance of a "multiplatform" approach and the emergence of a Web 2.0 world where the consumer starts to demand control of the information they get
